SAFeCRAFT aims to accelerate the adoption of Sustainable Alternative Fuels (SAFs) in waterborne transport by demonstrating their safety and viability. The project focuses on four key technologies that enable the use of SAFs in various types of oceangoing and short sea shipping vessels. These SAFs, including liquid and compressed green hydrogen, as well as carriers such as LOHCs and ammonia, will be used for handling, storage, and main propulsion.
In WEGEMT, our goal is to maximize the impact and acceptability of SAF strategies and technologies. We will achieve this by developing a comprehensive dissemination and exploitation plan, establishing an online platform for project visibility, and engaging with an External Advisory Board to gather industry feedback. Additionally, we will contribute to common information and dissemination activities to enhance visibility and synergies within the Zero Emission Waterborne Transport (ZEWT) partnership.
Through targeted communication efforts, including a dedicated website and training workshops, we aim to inform and engage maritime professionals, technology providers, ship owners, and other stakeholders in the benefits and implementation of SAFs. By fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange, we strive to advance the transition to zero-emission waterborne transport while addressing societal objectives such as job creation, economic growth, and environmental sustainability.
