SAFeCRAFT Advances the Design for Hydrogen Integration Onboard the Demonstrator

SAFeCRAFT is progressing the detailed engineering work needed to integrate hydrogen-based energy solutions onboard its demonstrator vessel. Led by HYDRUS, Task 4.2 – Detailed Production Design Package for the Demonstrator builds on the existing design package to further develop the hydrogen-based demonstration concept.

Current activities explore how energy generation and storage technologies can be combined to support more efficient and sustainable maritime operations. The engineering work addresses how the proposed systems will connect, operate and be implemented within the vessel.

Key considerations include technical integration, system interfaces and operational requirements, alongside the practical aspects of onboard implementation. These guide the development of solutions that align with the vessel’s technical and safety requirements. The ongoing design activities support SAFeCRAFT’s progress towards the integration and demonstration of hydrogen-based technologies onboard the demonstrator, contributing to the project’s efforts towards cleaner and more efficient shipping.
