Task 8.2 in the SAFeCRAFT project, led by the University of Strathclyde, focuses on conducting a Life Cycle Cost Assessment (LCCA) for Sustainable Alternative Fuels (SAF). This analysis will track the cash flow across the entire lifecycle, from raw material exploitation and production to system construction, installation, operation, and maintenance, all the way through to end-of-life scenarios.
The study will assess CAPEX, OPEX, maintenance, and dismantling/recycling costs for alternative fuel systems, offering a comprehensive financial overview. End-of-life scenarios will analyse how different dismantling and recycling technologies influence the circular economy, with an emphasis on reusable parts and the associated benefits from recycling. This task is crucial in illustrating the economic and environmental impacts of SAF solutions and their role in sustainable maritime operations.
