Technische Universität Dresden’s (TUD) Multidisciplinary Expertise Drives Innovation in the SAFeCRAFT Project

TU Dresden is one of eleven German Universities of Excellence and is home to more than 100 different disciplines ranging from natural sciences and engineering to humanities, social sciences and medicine. With its research focus on energy, mobility and the environment, TUD is in an excellent position to tackle the challenges posed by the SAFeCRAFT project.

Three units within the TUD bring together expertise in key areas:

The European Project Centre (EPC) – represented by Ms. Katja Böttcher – plays a central role in administration and project management as well as in the development of concepts for data management.

The Institute of Lightweight Engineering and Polymer Technology, represented by Dr. Georgios Tzortzinis and Prof. Maik Gude, provides expertise in the evaluation of alternative propulsion systems based on liquid organic hydrogen carriers and several other engineering tasks.

The Institute of Water Chemistry (IWC), represented by Dr Marta Markiewicz and Prof Stefan Stolte, has extensive experience in assessing the environmental hazards of chemicals, focusing in particular on LOHC.
SAFeCRAFT seeks to accelerate the adoption of sustainable alternative fuels within the maritime sector. Given TUD’s steadfast promotion of resource efficiency, coupled with its strong commitment to energy conservation and emissions reduction, the project’s objectives align closely with TUD’s overarching mission and long-term goals.
