SAFeCRAFT Kick-Off Meeting: Empowering Sustainable Fuels for Waterborne Transport

The official SAFeCRAFT Kick off meeting was held on the 24th and 25th of January 2024 in Athens, Greece. The primary objective of the meeting was to formally initiate the SAFeCRAFT project and introduce the team through a formal gathering. The consortium members received comprehensive insights into the project’s overall management, establishing a shared understanding of goals and progression. Work Package and task leaders elucidated the aims of each package, engaging in discussions about inputs, task allocation, and strategies to address risks, ensuring swift cooperation for the efficient advancement and oversight of the SAFeCRAFT project.

The aim of the SAFeCRAFT project is to accelerate the adoption of Sustainable Alternative Fuels (SAFs) in waterborne transport. The overall goal is to demonstrate SAF viability on various vessels, utilizing technologies like liquid and compressed green H2, LOHCs, and ammonia. The project’s A-Z approach, including bunkering, storage, handling, and fuel consumption, aims to pave the way for SAF implementation, aligning with societal objectives such as job creation, economic growth, and environmental impact reduction.
